We are living in a very interesting time. It seems like the world has pressed pause for a moment, and we are praying that it will latch on to the hope that only comes from the Lord even more. In response to COVID-19, our church planters have changed their game plans  in order to safely reach out to their communities. These are just a few of the stories of how God is using them and working in our state.  

Joey Cook - City Church in Conway, Arkansas

"It has been an eye opening experience that fear is a real thing in our community. We weren’t going to push our community, but we did take the opportunity to do something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time. We created multiple gatherings all throughout the community simultaneously. Our hope is to engage people that wouldn’t regularly attend a church service in gospel conversations. In the middle of May, we successfully piloted eight groups of worship gatherings around the city. We gathered for the first time in months with new friends and old friends with a shared mission to bring glory to the Lord.”

In order to care for the people in our community through this time, we’ve had to get creative. We’ve gotten in contact with school counselors to receive a list of low-income families that are in need of meals. Our small groups are split into 12 groups that are now used to help pack and deliver meals every other Sunday all around our city and surrounding cities. Those meals have become more and more important as time progresses. This is something we will continue to grow in a ministry for our city.

 

 

 

Roderick Rogers - Fordyce Community Bible Church in Fordyce, Arkansas

Talk about creativity! Roderick Rogers and his church community in Fordyce, Arkansas, have thought of several ways to reach out to their community. Rogers began at the start of COVID-19 with a food truck called “The Preachers Kitchen.” The goal is to take quality food to people of his community  with a mouth watering presentation and a heart of gold ready to share the Gospel from behind the window. Fordyce Community Baptist also started a bike ministry in which bikes are purchased through donations from the community to people all across the city. They also partnered with another local church planter, Vincent Stroud, of New Covenant Fellowship, who repaired bikes and helped them distribute them. We are so thankful for the work God is implementing in Fordyce, Arkansas, and the partnerships that He is using to shine the light of the Gospel during this time!
